Art Holidays at BLUE BIRD: Five days full of color, drawing and printmaking
During the autumn holidays, the BLUE BIRD Gallery in Schwerin invites children and teenagers to an intensive art experience. Under the guidance of Ute Laux, a creative specialist camp for painting and graphics will take place from October 19 to 23, 2026. Daily artwork reviews and hands-on practice combine aesthetic experience with cultural education.
A week, five artistic perspectives
Each day is dedicated to its own technique, opening a new approach to artistic creation. On wild stamping day Monday, writing, signs, symbols, and their visual magic are at the forefront. Different shapes, prints, and rhythms transform simple materials into expressive graphic compositions.
Color as a sensory adventure
Tuesday is dedicated to watercolor. The adventure of color takes center stage: glazes, flowing transitions, and vibrant fields of color make the special spatial impact of painting tangible. Participants explore how water, pigment, and paper interact and how spontaneous color trails lead to independent images.
The Art of Drawing
On Wednesday, the pencil as a precise and at the same time poetic tool comes into focus. Under the motto Magic Pencil – Who are you? the focus is on line, hatching, contour, and the development of a personal visual language. Drawing becomes an immediate form of seeing and thinking.
From Drawing to Printmaking
Thursday and Friday are devoted to intaglio and deep printing. First, the young artists develop their own graphic motifs, drawing and etching them into the printing plate. Subsequently, the etchings are printed in three different color variants. Each print reveals how strongly material, pressure, and color change the impact of a work of art.
Art Education with a Personal Touch
The curation of the holiday program combines professional introduction, experimental work, and personal expressiveness. Painting, drawing, and installation are not only viewed but understood through personal practice. This creates an exhibition atmosphere where focused work, curiosity, and joy in the creative process come together.
Conclusion: The art holidays at BLUE BIRD promise five varied days with watercolor, drawing, stamping, and intaglio. Children and teenagers experience art as an immediate, sensory, and self-creative practice. Those who want to explore materials with their own hands and develop a personal visual language will find an inspiring place for aesthetic experience and creative discovery in the gallery of Ute Laux.
