Schwerin in Green: Technology, People, and Dialogue in the Heart of the City
From November 9 to 12, 2026, the Marienplatz Gallery Schwerin will transform into an extraordinary place for information and encounters. During the Info Week Schwerin in Green, around 25 exhibitors and 22 departments will present different areas of responsibility of the Bundeswehr – from military music and medical service to navy, air force, technology, logistics, and combat troops.
An Exhibition with Impressive Exhibits
The presentation combines exhibition, demonstration materials, and personal conversations. Highlights include a Eurofighter engine, a launcher for surface-to-air missiles, a military police operational motorcycle, and a bomb disposal suit. The exhibits make the technical dimensions, operational reality, and work fields of the Bundeswehr immediately tangible.
Military History, Present, and Societal Dialogue
In addition to the military departments, the German Bundeswehr Association, the Association of Reservists of the German Bundeswehr, and the German War Graves Foundation are participating. This creates a multifaceted insight into historical responsibility, peace work, security issues, and the role of the Bundeswehr in a democratic society.
Lectures on History and Security Policy
On Tuesday, November 10, the slide presentation Cambrai 1917 will focus on the first tank battle in history. Author Karsten Richter will also address the influence of war reporting and the new possibilities of photography starting at 6 PM. On Wednesday, November 11, at 6 PM, the Schwerin Security Dialogue on Russian Intelligence Services with Reiner Haunreiter will follow. The free lecture will cover the structure, function, tools, and methods of Russian intelligence services, with space for discussions afterward.
Get Involved, Ask Questions, and Show Responsibility
The exhibition emphasizes direct encounters. Visitors can ask questions, receive information about career opportunities, and gain insights into the fields of activity of the Bundeswehr. A patch donation campaign supports the KraKi Association for children with cancer and their families. The embroidered patches will be offered in exchange for donations.
Conclusion: An Unusual Artistic Experience of Documentary Presentation
Schwerin in Green is not a classic art exhibition but a walkable presentation of technology, history, materiality, and societal dialogue. The exhibition atmosphere arises from the contrast between shopping mall and large military exhibits, between objective information and personal encounters. Those interested in contemporary history, security issues, technological development, and cultural education will experience an unusual contemplation of works in the broadest sense. A visit to the Marienplatz Gallery offers a direct aesthetic and informative experience – open, vivid, and right in the center of Schwerin.
